The Chinese Language Program is open to international students who love the Chinese Language and Chinese culture. Students learn Chinese in the School of International Education as full-time general scholars.
Upon completing the program, students will receive a certificate and an official transcript. The program is normally one semester long, but students could apply for an extension of their study period to at most four semesters in accumulation.
01: Course Setting
- Chinese language Courses: Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Comprehensive Chinese.
- Chinese Cultural Courses (Optional): Tai Chi, Martial Arts, Calligraphy, Chinese Painting, Papercut, Chinese Cuisine, Chinese Song, Seal Cutting.
- Other courses (Optional): HSK Level 4-6 tutoring, Business Chinese.
- Extra-curricular Activities: Tianjin city tour. Extra fees need to be paid for other traveling.
02: Duration
One semester or more, 20 hours/week
03: Qualification of Applicants
- Applicants must be Non Chinese citizens with a valid passport. Applicant should be in good health and of good character, be well-behaved, and be willing to abide by China's laws and regulations, as well as the university rules.
- Applicants must have a high school diploma and be over 18. Applicants who are still under the age of 18 as of September 1st, 2025, must submit the original guardian certificate issued by the Tianjin District Notary Office, and the Guardian must be a permanent resident of Tianjin.
04: Application Period
- Spring Semester: October 15th, 2024 - December 31st, 2024 (Registration in February 2025)
- Autumn Semester: March 15th, 2025 - June 30th, 2025 (Registration in September 2025)
Note: Due to the limited quota of TJU, early application is strongly recommended.
05: How to apply
Applicants should complete the Online Application on the International Student Service System (ISSS) according to the application schedule. Applicants should fill in the application information online and upload the application documents required to the system.
Please upload all listed documents below to the application system:
- Highest Diploma.
- Notarized copy of the academic transcripts.
- Study Experience Resume
- Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
- Applicants currently studying are required to submit a proof of study, and applicants who are working are required to submit a proof of work.
- Certificate of Non-Criminal Records.
06: Scholarship
Outstanding students may be eligible to apply for the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship (Confucius Institute Scholarship) which covers tuition fees, stipend, on-campus accommodation, and medical insurance.
