Chinese Language Program | Tianjin University (TJU) | Admission 2025

The Chinese Language Program is open to international students who love the Chinese Language and Chinese culture. Students learn Chinese in the School of International Education as full-time general scholars.


Instruction is divided into elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels. Students are arranged according to the results of the Chinese placement test at the beginning of the semester. Class size is approximately fifteen students per class. Normally class hours are from Monday to Friday, 4 academic hours per day, and 20 academic hours per week.

Upon completing the program, students will receive a certificate and an official transcript. The program is normally one semester long, but students could apply for an extension of their study period to at most four semesters in accumulation.

01: Course Setting

  1. Chinese language Courses: Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Comprehensive Chinese.
  2. Chinese Cultural Courses (Optional): Tai Chi, Martial Arts, Calligraphy, Chinese Painting, Papercut, Chinese Cuisine, Chinese Song, Seal Cutting.
  3. Other courses (Optional): HSK Level 4-6 tutoring, Business Chinese.
  4. Extra-curricular Activities: Tianjin city tour. Extra fees need to be paid for other traveling. 

02: Duration

One semester or more, 20 hours/week

03: Qualification of Applicants

  1. Applicants must be Non Chinese citizens with a valid passport. Applicant should be in good health and of good character, be well-behaved, and be willing to abide by China's laws and regulations, as well as the university rules.
  2. Applicants must have a high school diploma and be over 18. Applicants who are still under the age of 18 as of September 1st, 2025, must submit the original guardian certificate issued by the Tianjin District Notary Office, and the Guardian must be a permanent resident of Tianjin.

04: Application Period

  • Spring Semester: October 15th, 2024 - December 31st, 2024 (Registration in February 2025)
  • Autumn Semester: March 15th, 2025 - June 30th, 2025 (Registration in September 2025)

Note: Due to the limited quota of TJU, early application is strongly recommended.

05: How to apply

Applicants should complete the Online Application on the International Student Service System (ISSS) according to the application schedule. Applicants should fill in the application information online and upload the application documents required to the system.

Please upload all listed documents below to the application system:

  1. Highest Diploma.
  2. Notarized copy of the academic transcripts.
  3. Study Experience Resume
  4. Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
  5. Applicants currently studying are required to submit a proof of study, and applicants who are working are required to submit a proof of work.
  6. Certificate of Non-Criminal Records.

06: Scholarship

Outstanding students may be eligible to apply for the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship (Confucius Institute Scholarship) which covers tuition fees, stipend, on-campus accommodation, and medical insurance.

CAS-ANSO Scholarship Open for Applications | UCAS & USTC China | Highly Paid Fully Funded Scholarship in China | 7000 RMB Per Month

The 2026 CAS-ANSO Scholarship (Degree Program) is open for applications NOW!

The CAS-ANSO Scholarship (previously known as the ANSO Scholarship for Young Talents) was formally launched in 2019 to train and cultivate young scientists from all over the world. Its Degree Program supports 100-200 master's students and 300 PhD students every year to study at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), or institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). CAS is the major sponsor of the CAS-ANSO Scholarship.

ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship is a sub-category of the CAS-ANSO Scholarship. Special consideration is given to the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and women. Up to 40 PhD students from developing countries will be selected into this category every year and partially sponsored by TWAS/UNESCO.

  • The largest graduate education institution in China; its predecessor was the first graduate school in China.
  • Espouses the philosophy of “The Fusion of Scientific Research and Teaching”.
  • The ESI Ranking 2024: No.1 in China and No.17 worldwide.

01: Coverage

  1. Tuition waiver
  2. Monthly stipend: (6000 to 7000 RMB per month up to 48 months for PhD program and 3000 RMB per month up to 48 months for master's program)
  3. Health insurance
  4. Application fee waiver
  5. International travel allowance/reimbursement from the awardee’s home country to China (one trip per awarded candidate)
  6. One-time visa/residence permit allowance

For ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship awardees, item 1 to item 4 will be covered by CAS; item 5 and item 6 will be covered by TWAS/UNESCO. For other CAS-ANSO Scholarship awardees, all the items above will be covered by CAS. 

02: Eligibility

  • Non-Chinese citizens.
  • Proficient in English or Chinese.
  • Age limits: (For master’s program applicants born after 1st January 1995 and For PhD program applicants born after 1st January 1990)
  • Meet the admission criteria for international students of USTC/UCAS.
  • NOT take up other assignments during the period of the scholarship.
  • If you are currently pursuing a master’s (doctoral) degree at any university/institution in China, you are NOT eligible for the master’s program (PhD program) of this scholarship.

NOTE

You should NOT apply for the CAS-ANSO Scholarship in both USTC and UCAS, otherwise you will be disqualified from admission.

Design of Voice Coil Motor (VCM) for the Actuation of Fast Tool Servos (FTS) | MS thesis Project | NJUST, China

Voice coil actuators (VCAs) are electromagnetic actuators that use the Lorentz force principle to generate motion over short stroke lengths proportional to the actuator's length. They are commonly associated with loudspeakers but are also used in precise motion control applications. One of the main advantages of VCAs is their lack of mechanical hysteresis, force or torque ripple, and backlash, due to their non-contact and continuous operation. This makes them well-suited for applications requiring precise and smooth motion control. The three-dimensional structural design is depicted below.

I'm revisiting a project I worked on during my time at SZABIST, Karachi, Pakistan. It was a semester project for the spring semester of 2012, and the topic was "Marble Staircase Machine." While the project was a bit ambitious for a student project, the experience was invaluable.
